Welcome to our website paying
tribute to two of the
finest and most luxurious Japanese ocean liners ever to sail the
Pacific – the Asama Maru and Tatsuta Maru. However while
these two ships had glamorous lives in peacetime, in wartime they were
"Hell Ships" and used to carry British and Allied PoWs to camps in
Japan and elsewhere. Here the prisoners were treated appallingly and
used as slaves and often died long, horrific and lingering deaths in
captivity. Those PoWs that survived the war were forever scarred by
their ordeal. |
