Welcome to our Del Norte website celebrating this remarkable, distinctive and revolutionary passenger / cargo ship. She and her sister ships - Del Sud and Del Mar were synonymous with revival of the Delta Line's service from the USA to South America after the Second World War. However after 20 years of loyal service, the arrival of the jet airliner age, meant the end of the passenger service and the trio were converted for use as express cargo liners in 1967. However in early 1972, after a useful and profitably career the trio were retired from service and sent to Taiwan for scrapping. |
